Bobby came to work with me the other day and received these lovely flowers. We meet all sorts on Queen Street West. Some of the most interesting have spent some time down at the CAMH (the mental health hospital down on Queen West West). The flowers came from a lady who comes into the store every week. She has some mental health issues and always refers to 'the president'. On the other hand, is always praying in and about the store and for us too. I think she was visiting her late husband's plot or something. When came into the store she insisted we have these bea-u-tiful flowers.

When we heard of the murder on Queen Street West we thought the streets will be 'swept'. This was scary because we love many of the Queen Street West involved folks. However the opposite seems to have happened or maybe I'm just noticing more. It seems to have become 'the vogue' place for 'street tourists'. Hopefully, we'll have more chances to love on them & point to Jesus.

On a side note, the following article may shed some light on the plight of some of the street involved in our area.

Recent Events

Last Thursday night, we were walking home at about midnight and ran into some friends we know. One was quite upset as she had just encountered a fight just down past the church on Queen Street West. A female was cut on the arm and bleeding. As she bleed she was being asked questions by the police. Seeing the blood, our friend suggested that she needed some medical assistance. Anyways, today we learned that this 21 year old girl has been charged with 2nd degree murder.

More of the story is that 2 men were asked for money on the street (which is almost as normal as breathing in the summer down here) by 4 'squeegy kids' or 'street tourists'. Then something ugly happened...obviously drugs were a factor. A fight ensued and a man who commuted to work here in Toronto from St. Catherine's was stabbed. He soon after died of his wounds.

The Difference a Year Can Make

I'm not sure if you can read the graffiti tags below but...it says "STILL LIVING IN FEAR".

"Since fear is crippling, a fearful life--fear of death, fear of judgment--is one not yet fully formed in love.

We, tho, are going to love--love and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. He loved us first." 1 John 4:18b-19
