Long Live The Hug Tree...In Our Hearts
The Hug Tree has been ripped from the ground at Queen and John and I have to say that I was a little devastated when I saw it lying on the ground a few days ago. A graffiti artist has actually sprayed a chalk outline of where it laid now...I'll try to post that later.
The Hug Tree was so iconic to me of the best of our neighbourhood. The tree had been painted over and over and was a bit of a mess but quite fun, friendly and looking to soothe pain...even if just for a moment.
I have personally seen dozens of people hug it. I guess I missed my chance. But in my mind I hugged The Hug Tree each time I walked by. I know it is just a thing...but it was one that made life better.
So....So Long Hug Tree. I will miss you. I'll want to be more like you.
