Ashfault Diving

So I was walking down the street with Bobby & our friend Hannah and I had a 'little' accident. I hit a manhole cover that was probably raised a whopping 2 cm from the street. Usually, this would be no large deal and I'd stumble but recover. Not this time. My feet left the ground, my arms went above my head and I literally dove into the street. Not exactly glamourous. Actually hillarious.

Bobby describes the whole thing as a 'my wife flopping on the road' and he had this horrified, you're-so-pathetic look on his face which only made me laugh harder. After checkin myself out, I found I had some nice road rashes on my elbows and a lovely black cosmetic scrap from my wrist to the wounds. This, of course, made me laugh all the harder. The whole thing is beyond bizarre...especially since I've fallen down stairs 3 times as well. Suddenly, I'm the worst klutz that I know!

(The only sad thing is my rotator cuff seems to have torn since I can't really move my arm up or around very well. Not a good thing when its painful to put deoderant on! Haha.)

The Big Drive

On the 28th of June, Bobby & I are driving out to Edmonton from Toronto and I have to say I'm just giddy about the drive...ok maybe more about the scenery. Other than a 8 hour layover in Vancouver, I've only been as west as Windsor, and as north as North Bay. (What can I say...my parents like to travel outside of Canada!) We have 5 days to get out there and we hope to celebrate Canada Day in Saskatoon. Hopefully, I'll have some fun pictures to show for it. I can't wait!!

Seeming vs. Being

Some awesome folks we know in Thailand, Ric & Gail Nesimiuk, sent us this.

I was hungry,
And you formed a humanities group to discuss my hunger.
I was imprisoned,
And you crept off quietly to your chapel and prayed for my release.
I was naked,
And in your mind you debated the morality of my appearance.
I was sick,
And you knelt and thanked God for your health.
I was homeless,
And you preached to me of the spiritual shelter of the love of God.
I was lonely
And you left me alone to pray for me.
You seem so holy, so close to God,
But I am still very hungry -- and lonely -- and cold.

Won't You Be My Neighbour?

I just stumbled across this picture of Bobby & Trolley at a Mr. Roger's Neighbour hood exhibit. We drove 4 hours to the Strong Museum in Rochester for our 11th wedding anniversary (we just celebrated our 12th). The whole thing was hilarious and we even met Mr. McFeely aka Speedy Delivery.

I'm counting the days til I'm in Mr. Roger's neighbourhood!
"So will you be mine, will you be mine. Won't you be my neighbour!"

Coming Soon to a Mailbox Near You

Do you sponsor a child from a develping nation? I hope so!

Please consider sponsoring Bobby & I as 'urban workers'.

We want to bring hope and a future to youth in the Queen Street West neighbourhood! I'm not sure how many of you are aware of this but Bobby's position at the church is 'raise your own support'. This is because the church is quite small & does not have the means to pay Bobby (or 2 other staff members) although the needs here are so huge. On many Sundays the children and youth out number the adults!!

We work with about 50+ youth every 2 weeks and only about 12 of these are from families that attend the church. Most of our youth comes from Alexandra Park (a housing project of about 1,500 people right inbetween the church and our place) and a low income waterfront community (yes, it really does exist!). Because of where we live and Bobby's personality, we literally meet new people and youth daily.

Anywhoo, I could go on & on. Pray with us for hope for the hopeless, a future for those who have no future & life to the full for the youth & their families in the Queen Street West area. Please email me if you would like more information on what we do or how you could help and we can mail you a information package along with a 'fabulous' magnet of us.
